FAQ

Individual Counselling

Do I need to know what I want to talk about?

Not at all. Many people come in feeling overwhelmed, confused, or unsure where to begin. Together, we gently uncover what’s happening beneath the surface and follow the threads that matter most to you.

Is this the same as coaching?

My approach blends counselling, trauma-informed coaching, and somatic awareness. It supports both emotional healing and practical change.

Some sessions feel reflective and therapeutic; others focus on tools, regulation, and new ways of responding to daily challenges.

How do you work with trauma or difficult experiences?

With great care and no rush. We work slowly, supporting your nervous system, using grounding techniques, somatic awareness, and gentle exploration.

Healing happens layer by layer — always with your consent and within your window of tolerance.

Can you help with stress, anxiety, or burnout?

Yes. We explore what’s fuelling your stress and develop tools to regulate your nervous system, manage overwhelm, and rebuild clarity and energy.

Support includes breathwork, somatic practices, emotional awareness, and practical strategies.

What if I feel ashamed or embarrassed about my story?

You’re not alone. Many people feel this way. My role isn’t to judge — it’s to create a space where all parts of your experience are welcome. You can show up exactly as you are.

How long does counselling take?

There is no set timeline. Some people come for a few sessions of focused support; others continue longer-term as part of ongoing growth and healing. We move at a rhythm that feels right for you.

Is counselling only for people in crisis?

Not at all. Many come because they want clarity, emotional resilience, confidence, or a deeper understanding of themselves. Counselling is just as much about growth as it is about healing.

What approaches do you use?

My work draws on trauma-informed principles, somatic awareness, systemic thinking, emotional regulation tools, Non-Violent Communication, and reflective exploration. Each session is tailored to what you need that day.

What can I hope to gain from this work?

People often leave feeling more grounded, self-aware, emotionally regulated, and connected to their inner truth. Over time, many experience greater resilience, clearer boundaries, improved relationships, and a renewed sense of self.

Relationship counselling and mediation

What happens in a couple’s session?

Sessions offer a calm, structured space where both partners can speak, be heard, and feel understood.

We explore communication patterns, emotional triggers, and deeper needs using a gentle, Non-Violent Communication–informed approach. Each session is paced to ensure safety, clarity, and connection.

Do you take sides?

No. My role is not to decide who is right or wrong. I support both partners equally, creating an environment where each person feels respected and safe enough to express themselves honestly. The focus is on understanding, repair, and building healthier patterns together.

Is couples therapy only for relationships in crisis?

Not at all. Many couples come to strengthen communication, deepen connection, or navigate life transitions. Therapy can help you grow together, not just heal when things feel difficult.

What if we struggle to talk without arguing?

That’s exactly what this work is for. I guide conversations so they stay grounded, respectful, and productive. You’ll learn new ways of listening and responding that reduce defensiveness and increase empathy.

Do we need to attend every session together?

In most cases, sessions are done together. However, I may recommend occasional individual sessions to help each partner explore personal history, triggers, or emotions that influence the relationship dynamic.

How long does counselling take?

There is no set timeline. Some people come for a few sessions of focused support; others continue longer-term as part of ongoing growth and healing. We move at a rhythm that feels right for you.

How long does couples therapy take?

Every relationship is different. Some couples benefit from a few focused sessions, while others choose longer-term work to rebuild trust, communication, and emotional safety. We go at a pace that feels supportive for both of you.

Do we need to be on the brink of separation to start?

No. Many couples seek support simply because something feels “off” — disconnection, distance, tension, or recurring patterns. Therapy can help you address issues early, understand each other more deeply, and prevent future ruptures.

What approach do you use?

I draw on trauma-informed principles, systemic awareness, and trained skills in Non-Violent Communication for mediation. This creates a compassionate, structured, and respectful space for each partner to express themselves and reconnect.

What can we hope to gain from this work?

Couples often leave with clearer communication, deeper emotional safety, renewed closeness, and a shared understanding of what each partner truly needs. Many rediscover a more grounded, loving way of relating — one built on honesty, care, and mutual respect.
